One Fair! The title scares you silly, doesn’t it! It doesn’t have to. Yes, you’ll get grades. But mostly, you get to make a mess, show off your smarts, and maybe win a ribbon! Make your project fun. If you like sports, experiment to show which shape of ball can fly farther when kicked. Explain how math is used in sports. Show what kind of paper (or design) makes the best paper airplane. Demonstrate propulsion by making a fizzy rocket. Do you like animals? You can use your family pet – “What kind of food do cats prefer?” Or, “what color bird feeder do birds prefer?” Is your family “going green?” Maybe you can predict what kinds of people recycle. Mrs. Burke and your teacher can help you develop an idea. The best One Fair projects are e-a-s-y experiments that you are excited about. Projects that include food, bouncing balls, or exploding foam can be lots of fun. Go for it!
